THE best beef and lamb in Australia will be named at the Brisbane Showgrounds tomorrow.
The entries in the Royal Queensland Food and Wine Show’s Branded Beef and Lamb Competition Awards cover eight separate classes.
There are five competition classes for branded beef, including grain-fed, grass-fed and Wagyu, and three for branded lamb, including one to cater for the restaurant trade.
Chief judge Elaine Millar led a team of Queensland’s top chefs and food experts for two days last week as they tasted their way through some of the finest red meat in the retail market.
Food scientists were also involved in the judging process, cooking each piece of meat to precise requirements, ensuring they were presented to the judges in their perfect state.
RQFWS award-winning beef and lamb products will be served on the Royal 100 Ekka Tasting Plates available at the King Street pop up store on August 7-16. This is part of Ekka 2020 Online presented by RACQ, to keep the spirit of the Royal Queensland Show alive.
